well what can say, previously owning an XBOX 360 i can safly say that the PS3 mops the floor with the 360 (and that's an understatement). Rating: - Know what you are buying - Not for small kids really
See Mr Pettejohns review - its gives a good summary of all the non-game related reasons to buy it. What it doen't have is a whole load of family friendly games - as a console it's pretty hardcore.

However, for £300 its good value for all the non-game stuff that it does. So I see the game capacity as a free add on rather than vice versa.

You can convince "the Mrs" you bought it for all its non-game features because it does stand up on its own.

Hi, I bought the ps3 a week ago, I wasnt extremely impressed.
I read that the ps3 can now play divx (having updated the ps3 to the latest firmware), BUT i later found out that it does not play all divx (xvid) files which was very disapointing.
I knew the 80gb version couldnt play ps2 games, but the 60gb version which was discontinued could... sounds like something a bit fishy, i wonder if sony are going to rip us off by charging for ps2 games on a download service in the future!?
