Editorial Review:Amazon.co.uk Review:Carve out a virtual life for yourself as hero or villain in the fantasy world of
Fable II, where nothing is pre-determined. Create your own character, male or female, and control them over their whole lifetime. Watch as they grow up and then make the tough moral choices that will affect their abilities and how the world sees them.
Some cities are huge, with a complex infrastructure for you to exploit |
Acting for good or evil can have a permanent physical effect on your features |
Guns are commonplace, but swordfighting is still vitally important |
Not all your enemies are human in the world of Fable |
Set in the land of Albion 500 years after the first game (such that primitive guns are now in widespread use), you can either seek to rid the land of evil or conquer the realm for yourself. The game features an all new combat system, allowing you to use a range of melee and ranged weapons, while death brings only a loss of experience.
But the game need not be about fighting at all if you don’t want it to be. You can buy property and become a mayor, or get married and have children. Many games call themselves role-players, but here the nature of your role is entirely up to you.
Key Features - Game of life: Mould your own character and watch them grow into adulthood, their features changing according to the deeds they perform for good or evil.
- Virtual reality: Will you be a charming evil doer or an antisocial hero? The role you play is entirely up to you as you follow the game’s story or ignore it to do your own thing.
- New age of combat: Wield a huge range of weapons, including swords, axes, and newly available muskets. Or master a range of magic spells with up to 80 different varieties available.
- Team up: Invite a friend into your game at any time and play with them in co-operative mode.
- Best friend: Every character gets a chance to own a pet dog, one who will help you to find your way through the game world, attack enemies, or just be a good friend.

I should preface my review by saying that this game started out as a hell of a lot of fun and easily one of the best games I have played on the X-box....for the first 8 hours or so anyway, until it kept freezing up and wouldn't let me play. Now it's completely unplayable - it won't even install to my hard drive because the disc is unreadable. I understand that this is a pretty widespread issue and that, furthermore, Lionhead has done absolutely nothing about it. So I'm left with a 40 quid beer ...

I am so bitterly disappointed. This is one of the most superb games I have ever played and probably the most enjoyable and engaging RPG I have ever owned. The graphics are superb, the environment is rich (and huge). Your character (and your dog!) develops in so many intricate and fascinating ways throughout your progress through the game. The combat is so user friendly and rewarding. The spells and skills you acquire are impressive and easy to use. It's so indepth an interesting.
Unfortunately, ...

Had two copies of this now. Neither of them I have been able to play for more than 20 minutes without it freezing and having to be manually switched off. Catastrophic bugs render this game unplayable, and Lionhead are saying NOTHING. Hold off buying this until they do.

I'm on my second playthrough now and I'll be taking my time to try out everything this time around.
I have not yet experienced any bugs or crashes or lost saves, so without that to colour my opinion, the game is brilliant.
The world is really involving and looks beautiful.
I highly recommend you give it a go and find out for yourself!

What can I say about Fable 2? It's a really addictive game, the combat is ace and I loved the dog! But sadly Fable 2 is overhyped, just like the first one. But the probelm is this game is just too short! I mean what has he done for all these years? The graphics are terrible, there are so many technical probelms such as: the game freezing on you, getting stuck in objects and broken side-quests (If there are that many). You see Fable 2 is a game that you want to love, but with all those probelms the main one being ...
