Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Disky Dutch Issue of EMI Tracks.
Must have had a few re-issues with the same sleeve cover (?) as mine's from Disky in Holland without any Ted Carroll sleeve notes, in fact, no sleeve notes whatsoever. With the DVD's covering Motorhead's career doing the rounds, an interview with Ted Carroll and Roger Armstrong at Chiswick would be a great addition!
But if this statement by a fellow reviewer below, (or above?), about Ted's sleeve notes is true, then I can't understand why he would have written them for this release? Here we ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Lemmy is the REAL King...
Only one of the best albums ever made. That's it... actually that isn't it. It's too good for that. Debut album, remade two years after it was originally recorded and left on the shelf by EMI (that's another story tho') while we nearly lost Motorhead to abject poverty. Thankfully rescued tho' and this unique album is the result of a change in lineup and a few tweaks to the running order. The rest is history. Lovely dirty production remains just as the vinyl and the bonus tracks are just as nice. Makes ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Remastered!!!!!
Surely remastering the first Motorhead album is sacrilege?! It's charm has always been the fact that it was so bad that it bordered on genius? Fantastic tracks, especially Iron Horse/Born to Lose and The Watcher, but terrible production. And that is what made it so great? If they sounded this good with no production, how good would they be with a decent producer? (The answer to that question was answered of course, with the superlative Overkill, released in 1979 and an absolute classic!?) I still have ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Top!
Motorhead did it first. Motorhead did it best - this album proves it. I've ALWAYS owned "Motorhead" in one form or another (I still have my original LP on White Vinyl). "Lost Johnny" and "Iron Horse" are as good as it gets! If you're a 40 something, buy it now and remember how good it was the first time you heard it. If you're young, buy it now and further your education!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The original and the best
This CD is the very first Motorhead album, digitally remastered. It has all eight original tracks plus the the b-side "City Kids" from the single "Motorhead", and four extra tracks from the session which were released in 1980 as the "Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers" EP. The packaging is normal jewel case, one disc. Liner notes are by Ted Carroll, who was the big cheese at Chiswick records, the label the original release was on. The history is well observed and written, detailing the evolution of the band ... Read More
