Editorial Review:Amazon.co.uk Review:In
Sister Act Whoopi Goldberg plays a Reno lounge singer who hides out as a nun when her villainous boyfriend (Harvey Keitel) goes gunning for her. Maggie Smith is the mother superior who has to cope with Whoopi's unorthodox behaviour, but the cute script turns the tables and shows the latter energising the stodgy convent with song and attitude. A real crowd-pleaser and a perfect vehicle for Goldberg, this is a happy experience all around. --

This is my favourite film, and has been for years. I've seen it at least 200 times and can repeat all the lines and the songs throughout the film. I know, really sad! I can't help it though. It's such a feel good funny film with a great soundtrack. If you haven't seen it, you're missing out!

I must have first seen this film when I was 4 or 5, and remember loving it at the time. 14 years later I can happily say that 'Sister Act' still hasn't lost it's charm. I could understand far more of what was going on this time round (the story is follows Deloris Van Cartier - hilariously played by Whoopi Goldberg - who is forced to go into hiding for a few months after witnessing her boyfriend commit murder. This is all fine and dandy, until you discover that her place of hiding and secret identity ...

LOVE Sister Act, a brilliant movie. Clever and funny and so good at chearing you up when you are down! You cannot watch this movie and not smile! Brilliant!
Vegas singer Delores (Whoopi Goldberg) walks in on her boyfriend shooting a man and subsequently must be placed in the witness protection programme. She is put in the last place anybody would ever look for her...a nunery! At first she hates it but eventually makles friends with some of the eccentric nuns and leads them in singing (with ...

In watching Sister Act again recently, there was a particular scene that reminded me of the power of the clericals -- the thugs in the final chase refused to shoot Delores because she was dressed as a nun; they couldn't shoot, in case she was a nun. Even though they were fairly confident that she wasn't a nun, the image she presented was one of being holy, and thus they couldn't bring themselves to do it. The combination of that scene with the nuns running through the casino, and working ...

Whoopie Goldberg is the only actress to actually make me seriously laugh and she does an amazing job in Sister Act. This movie is full of laughs, has an entertaining story, action and plenty of good music. You dont have to be a fan of these kind of films to love this movie. Most movies I'm into are strong gory horror films but I love Sister Act so that shows how good this movie is if it can win me over like that.
I find it very hard to find one thing bad about this movie so I'll say ...
