This film tells the story of an Englishwoman married to a French count, who himself is absent in Latin America during WW2. The film is said to be a "true story" and no doubt that is so, at least in essentials, though one has to be careful in thus believing everything so labelled ... Read More

This is one of the best war films to have been made since the 1960's. When I watched this film, it made me realise the great compassion and cruelty people are capable of. The actors allow you to feel the very real fear and danger that people in the resistance went through and how families could be torn apart, and at the same time ordinary people were willing to risk their own lives for the sake of perfect strangers.

The film focuses on the remarkable story of Mary Lindell, an Englishwoman living in occupied France in 1940. It focuses on Lindell's bravery in ensuring British airmen escape back to Britain. Along with her son and the French Resistance the film illustrates the dangers that these people were placed in, and how the Gestapo were always at their heels. What makes the film even more remarkable is that it is based on a true story. The film is a must if you enjoy watching how brave people put their lives on ... Read More
