Editorial Review:Amazon.co.uk Review:Steven Seagal has always been an awkward action hero. Initially, he had a certain amount of credibility thanks to his nebulous association with secret government agencies and mastery of Aikido, which helped to excuse his bad acting. But as a self-righteous action hero in the vein of Schwarzenegger and Stallone, Seagal fell into unintentional self-parody faster and more dramatically than either of his two predecessors. In
Out for Justice, Seagal plays Gino Felino, a Brooklyn-born cop known and respected by everyone--both good and bad--in his neighbourhood. The worst of the baddies is Richie Madano (William Forsythe), a crack-smoking killer who murders his partner and terrorises all. Technically, Felino is a terrible cop--touching evidence at murder scenes, stealing evidence, intimidating witnesses--but only by breaking those rules can he bring in this horrible criminal. As his soon-to-be-ex-wife discovers, he does everything because he cares too much. Julianna Margulies (
ER) has a small but thankless role as Richie's hooker girlfriend, and Gina Gershon (
Bound,
Showgirls) has an equally thankless role as his foul-mouthed, bar-owning sister. --

OK, turn your brains off and enjoy. Needless to say this is a no-brainer. But Seagal delivers and is fun to watch. The story: a drug addict goes on a killing spree, gunning down the wrong man - Seagal's friend and fellow cop. Seagal goes off the grid to track him down - taking down half of NY City's underground as well. No matter if bare-knuckled or with a shotgun - Seagal knows how to take out the baddies. And this one is a good 90 minutes of good entertainment which never gets boring since it is ...

THE PLOT: Seagal plays Brooklyn cop Gino Felino. Yes that's right. Gino Felino. His best friend has just been killed by lowlife gangster/childhood friend Richie Madano (William Forsythe)......and he's not happy about it.
THE REVIEW: The beauty of 'Out For Justice' is it's simplicity. It's a perfect example of how an action movie should be made. The characters are two-dimensional, the violence frequent and gruesome and the dialogue foul.
It is arguably Seagal's finest moment. ...

Steven Seagal is out for justice and this film goes according to formula, but who cares, if you're a Seagal fan then it's a must for your collection.
Has a great introduction involving the quickest way to enter a car, a classic pool hall fight scene (complete with ball in sock) and a hilarious final scene involving Seagal's steel toecapped boot.
Nice to see the lovely Jo Champa in it as well.

Gino Felino, like Nico Toscani, Mason Storm and John Hatcher before him, is a good cop in a bad mood. His partner Bobby Lupo has been gunned down in the streets in front of his wife and kids by crazed wannabe gangster Richie Madano. Richie was always into something bad, even when he was a kid and now seems to be going psycho, snorting coke and smoking crack. He's got a one-way ticket to oblivion and he's going to have fun getting there along with his evil henchmen Joey Dogs, Bobby Arms and Bochi. Luckily ...
