Back in 1970 I stayed up late enough to watch this gripping drama series and loved it. The ideas were fresh and new at the time and were firmly based on real science (co-creator Kit Pedlar was a scientist whose first venture into sci fi with writer Gerry Davis was the creation of the Cybermen).
Looking back now, the drama holds up well. John Paul is superb as Quist the driven leader of Doomwatch a watchdog group keeping an eye on potentially dangerous scientific projects. Quist is predictably ... Read More

I wasn't old enough to have watched this sometimes remembered TV thriller from the early seventies. It was, in fact, recommended to me by a friend who knew that I'd watched, and enjoyed, some vintage episodes of Doctor Who from the same period. But that was for nostalgia and this would be more purely the pursuit of being entertained. It was all a bit cringeworthy I'm afraid.
