Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
The idea is clever but the movie can't seem to pull its comic weight: Steve Martin plays a mob informer who is placed in the witness-protection program and doesn't fit into the suburban California life the Feds have picked out for him. Rick Moranis is the FBI agent assigned to protect him. Martin mugs his way through the role of an Italian wise guy from the New York streets, but his performance is never more than an impersonation. The script of My Blue Heaven leaves a lot to be desired, as well. Director Herbert Ross (The Turning Point) brings some gloss to the production, but he can't seem to do much else with the material. --Tom Keogh

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not one of Martin's Better Known Outings
Steve Martin is a mobster turned informant in the U.S. Witness Protection Program, but his dishonest habits are hard to break in this clever little comedy. Director Herbert Ross uses a smart screenplay, talented performers, and a great premise to make "My Blue Heaven" work a lot better than most films of its genre. Rick Moranis is the FBI agent who tries to protect Martin from mafia hitmen and more dangerously himself. Joan Cusack is priceless as a local district attorney who wants to get Martin ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - OK, it's perhaps not great art, but it is funny!!
Granted, this won't count among Steve Martin's greatest contributions to the world of cinematic art, but you have to admit it is among his funnier ones. Not as subtle as some of the others - more like laugh-out funny, with a good dose of the good ol' feel-good-factor. (Some reviewers found his character too cheesy, but I think that's the whole point!)

In fact, I'll go so far as to say that this is one of my favourite 'easy' comedies - the perfect accompaniment to spaghetti bolognese, ... Read More

steve martin can be great. However, the only reason to watch this abomination is because it IS the worst film ever made.It has to be seen to be believed. Awful.

L.A story is a very close second.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - "Take my keys, take my gun, take me"
I am not a fan of Steve Martin when he is doing his Jim Carrey imitations like The Jerk (1979). I prefer him in a quasi-normal state like "Housesitter" (1992). However this movie defies a category description. Well Steve Martin defies description. Add a great cast and you have a keeper.
I am not going to go in to details as that is the movie "My Blue Heaven"; however the story line is about Vinni, (Martin), a New York City gangster enrolled in the witness protection program. He is sent to a seemingly ... Read More
