Since buying this book, I have looked forward immensely to reading it and I was not disappointed. I originally come from Ireland and found this book to be an informative, as well as extremely sad account of one family's story during the Irish famine. The author paints a beautiful portrait of Ireland before the famine and manages to convey quite an eerie and desperate one after the famine has begun.
