Loretta Chase's novels seem to be rather variable but always interesting. I loved "Lord Of Scoundrels" which has a dreadful cover but is a great story; "Captives Of The Night" was a very different read (although with some characters in common with "Lord Of Scoundrels"), with far more mystique and secrecy in the plot and characters, but it was still very good. I didn't like "Miss Wonderful" at all, one of her more recent books and far more in the traditional regency romance vein. So, what's "The Lion's ... Read More

At last, a book that kept me up until the wee small hours!! I have read all Loretta Chase's books that I can lay my hands on and this one is up there with the best. I don't often laugh out loud at romance books, but this one is on a par with Lord of Scoundrels for odd spots of hilarity. Varian and Esme are obviously made for one another, just takes them a little while to realise it.
