The Contented Little Baby Book Of Weaning
I was not that impressed with the original CLB book but decided to give Gina another chance so bought this one when I was looking to start my daughter on solids and found it MUCH better. If, like me, you are after a complete step by step guide to weaning and want to know what to give, when, and how much then this is the book for you. However, I would say that, as with CLB, you need to have the confidence to recognise that she doesn't know it ...

I bought this book because I didn't have a clue how to go about weaning, or what was the best time of day to start and I felt that as a new mum I wanted something to literally spell it out for me. Im not a follower of Gina's routines, far too strict for me but I must say that I liked this book. Although my baby doesnt exactly fit into the feeding times, I use them as a guideline, rather than a rule, which I think is the best way to treat any of Gina's books. Sadly this book didn't cover ANY of my weaning issues with my 7 month old.
Getting my baby to take the food, teaching her to drink from anything other than the breast, eating enough to encourage better sleeping patterns....none of these subjects were covered and all of these I have hit a wall with!
Frankly, everything else suggested, I have already done myself as it's common sense, all the talk about "cutting out the 10pm feeds" etc is impossible for us. Suggesting certain milk feeds are ...

Now, I know when I say 'Gina Ford' in front of some Mums they start to hiss, but this book on weaning is pretty useful. It gives a gentle step-by-step guide to introducing your baby to new foods and easy feeding plans for different stages, plus how to cook anything from a carrot to Fish Lyonnaise. As a first-time Mum whose own Mum is not longer here to ask for advice, I found it a great help.
I soon relaxed enough to make my own recipes and 'blends' and to trust my instincts on how much to give ...

My son is now 1 and started weaning at around 4 months, I followed Gina Ford's weaning guide from the start, although I hadn't previously read anything else by her. At four months I was still all over the place with feeding, but Gina's feeding schedules sorted us into a much better routine. My son eats three good meals a day and eats a wide variety of food. I think the routine that Gina sets out will really pay off when you are cooking for more children (I only have one at the moment). I took one star ...
