Sally Beauman moves on 20 years on from the events depicted in Du Maurier's novel, but like other mysterious crimes, Rebecca's death has retained a certain fascination in this fictional world. I found Beauman's sequel to be as compelling as the original but without taking anything away from it. There are some discrepancies between this sequel and Du Maurier's original, but Beauman tells such a compelling story it's quite easy to forgive.
