Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - A disappointing end for a wonderful writer
I was very sad to hear of Elizabeth Elgin's death, as I have loved all of her books. Unfortunately while this particular book started as well as all of her previous works, it is spoiled by the very rushed ending from the ghostwriter.

I'm afraid that I have to disagree with those who say it didn't harm the book and it's better to have the book than not. Whoever finished the novel unfortunately didn't even try to emulate Elgin's style. The style of prose is different (watch the sudden ... Read More

i agree with r taylor it seemed it was a rush to finish but still it was a good read and i will read again as i do with all elizabeth elgins books its a shame that there will not be any more

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderfull Read
I agree with Book Worm this book is excellent, in true Elgin style. The other readers are may be too critical looking for the change-over point of auther's. No-one could finish the book as Elizabeth could have done, but thank goodness someone tried. Otherwise we would be one down on our book shelves, it's bad enough knowing there will be no more.
Read it with an open mind and you will enjoy it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Another wonderful book
What Elizabeth Elgin does best is capture the real spirit of wartime so those of us who haven't lived in it are transported back in time to wartime Britian. I love the stories of the tree girls Nan, Carrie and Evie who find freindship when they all join up and end up at Heronflete together, each providing support during hard times and enjoying the good.

I was, as everyone sad to hear my favourite author will not be writing again, best wishes and thoughts to her family. Well done also ... Read More

I love Elizabeth Elgin's books and I was really sad to hear that she passed away in 2005 without being able to finish her most recent book. And selfishly I was sad that one of my favourite authors wouldn't bring out another book ever again.
The book was lovely and I wasn't disappointed at all, it was true Elgin style, well written with a romantic, engaging plot. I didn't want it to end!
Like in the other reviews here, it was quite obvious that someone had stepped in to write the ending for ... Read More
