Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A girl called Roberta...
Now there is only one thing to do - shorten that name to Bobby! And then leave England, because it has become unbearable to stay here. For the heroine started a love affair with a high ranking politician and this does no good, for he is married...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Eccentric characters - beautiful writing
I loved this book - all 700 pages of it! Bobbie has an affaire with MP Burgo Latimer. All is revealed and plastered over the papers, so she decides to escape and on an impulse applies for a job as housekeeper at a castle in Ireland. Not everyone at the castle welcomes her arrival, but everyone welcomes the improvement in the quality of the food. The inhabitants of the castle are: Finn - a senator; Finn's wife, Violet who is incapable of looking after herself following a stroke; Constance - Finn's ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The ultimate comfort read
If chocolate is comfort food, this book is comfort reading. No matter how grim my life at the time, I can read Moonshine and escape into a world of charm, humour and pathos. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of my favourite books ever
Like most of Victoria Clayton's books, "Moonshine" is written with charm, wit and an original take on life, and once you have read a few chapters, you quickly know this book will be a friend for life. Clayton combines a wicked sense of the ridiculous with a warm and perceptive understanding of human nature, and the situations her characters find themselves in, although sometimes extreme, never stretch the bounds of credulity. Her books also make evident a wealth of knowledge about architecture, literature, food ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - top class
I absolutely adored this book. It was laugh-out-loud funny in places as well as being heartwarming and honest. The characters were well written and believable. I adored them all and didn't want to have to leave them behind when I finished the book! It was a treasure.
